Course Objectives:

The goal of this class is to focus on continued development and improvement of palpation skills to help differentiate normal vs. abnormal tissue states (i.e. sympathetic / parasympathetic dominant tone vs. neurohormonally balanced).

Specific focus will be given to improving identification, localization and treatment of Jones Tender Points as associted with Counterstrain Technique in the Pelvis, Sacrum, Thoracic and Lumbar spine.

In addition, Muscle Energy Techniques for the Pelvis, Sacrum, and Lumbar spine will be employed and demonstrated.

At the conclusion of the class, the participant should be able to:

1. Differentiate between normal and abnormal biomechanics of the Lower Extremity, Pelvis, Sacrum, and Lumbar spine.
2. Assess for and identify Jones Tender Points in the Pelvis, Sacrum, Thoracic and Lumbar Spine.
3. Assess for and identify Lumbo-Pelvic somatic dysfunctions indicated for Muscle Energy treatment.
4. Apply specific Counterstrain and Muscle Energy Techniques to change areas of assessed somatic dysfunction.
